Talk by Stephanie Mach, Penn Museum
To celebrate Native American Heritage Month, the President’s Diversity Council encourages all members of the College community to attend a presentation by Stephanie Mach, a member of the Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 12 p.m. in the Library.
Stephanie is the Student Engagement coordinator at the Penn Museum and a new doctoral student in Cultural Anthropology at Penn. For her master’s degree, she studied expressions of survivance in contemporary Native American art and the evolution of museum display techniques at the National Museum of the American Indian. Her current research focuses on the material and cultural significance of wampum through material studies and archival research of wampum in Northeastern museum collections.
The Library will also feature American Indian themed books, articles and artifacts on display. In addition, a raffle will be held to win two tickets to the Penn Museum’s Native American Voices exhibit. For more information and directions, see: Native American Heritage Month Presentation.
