Native American Soapstone Vessels from Eastern Pennsylvania

For thousands of years Native Americans in eastern Pennsylvania carved vessels and other objects from soapstone. West Chester University Archaeologist Heather Wholey explains how archaeology helps to understand and reconstruct the craft of soapstone vessel carving.

Note: Carved Soapstone artifacts will be on display in the lobby 1:00-1:30pm.
