Native American Student Success: The Effect of Tribal Colleges and Universities on Native American Student Retention
Every year the Office of Affirmative Action & Equal Opportunity Programs sponsors an event as part of the Martin Luther King Symposium on Social Change. This year we have partnered with Penn Law to celebrate this Symposium through the lens of a most timely and informative presentation on Native American culture at Penn and beyond. We are featuring some of the research and work of Dr. Marybeth Gasman, Penn GSE and her Center for Minority Serving Institutions. Other speakers will include Dr. Ben Ototivo, Staff Psychologist for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and Tina Pierce Fragoso, Associate Director for Equity & Access and Director of Transfer Admissions in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
The Diversity Lecture Series is intended to give insight and understanding of multicultural issues to the University of Pennsylvania. The series is designed to introduce an essential component of education in helping to encourage civil debate, broaden the basis for critical thought and promote cultural understanding. This program will explore the ways in which mainstream four-year institutions can support their Native American student populations.
All are welcome. Please follow this link to register.
